The Open Fusion Collective (OFC) is a platform built to bring together the public, academics and fusion researchers to discuss the social and ethical questions about fusion energy development and deployment. This includes questions about how the technology is designed, what the risks and benefits may be, who can access it, and where the materials come from.
By opening up these conversations the OFC seeks to put topics of public importance on the agenda of the fusion debate and ensure that societal values are considered and public voices are heard. Rooted in long-standing scholarship on responsible innovation and technology assessment, the OFC aims to encourage transparency and accountability across the life cycle of the technology - from design to decomissioning.

Beyond Substack, the OFC aims to continue stimulating and facilitating conversation through involvement at conferences, events, journals and other platforms.
